Tips
Introduce the Next Speaker
In many situations, it is better to be introduced by the another
person than to introduce yourself. The other person will likely
do a better job of “selling” your experience/expertise
and can highlight your value to that prospect or audience.
As you stand side by side, you can physically and mentally
prepare to begin while the other person talks about you.
Stay Away from Negative Words and Phrases
More than 60% of our daily conversation includes negative
words and most of those could be avoided. Negative words cause
confusion, interfere with retention and send the wrong message.
Since most of these negative phrases are merely habit, watch
for them in your conversation and presentations and change
them to a positive statement.
Tell Stories and Energize your Voice
Everyone enjoys listening to speakers who are animated and
energetic. The easiest way to energize your voice and improve
the content of your presentation is to tell more stories.
Stories can serve as examples, proof, analogies or simply
add humor. As you practice your stories, increase the volume
by 5%, push the pitch or your voice up and down and move your
arms.
